Boxing Night of 2-4-11

5-Star Fight

Barrie, Ontario, Canada

Lindsay Garbatt (6-3-1) vs. Jelena Mrdjenovich (24-6-1)

This is a rare treat as the number 1 & 2 super Featherweights are going to go at it. Garbatt gets the hometown girl benefit, being in her home province. She has lost only one of her last 5 fights. Mrdjenovich has lost 3. Plus Garbatt’s last win was against Mrdjenovich. However it was a split decision. So I give Mrdjenovich the hunger factor more. Also, she does have more experience. I’m going with her for the upset.

3-Star Fights

2-4 Santa Ynez, California, United States

Lateef Kayode (15-0) vs. Nicholas Iannuzzi (16-1)

Showtime will be bring in two new talents that are rising up. Kayode is undefeated in 15 fights. Here is the kicker. He’s had 14 knockouts in a row. He’s the #15 ranked cruiserweight in the world and the top Nigerian. Iannuzzi is ranked #21. Neither man are fighting in their hometown. HOw do you go against Kayode in this fight?

Fort Worth, Texas, United States

Sergio Mora (22-1-2) vs. Bryan Vera (17-5)

(I really wish I could be here.) ESPN2 Friday Night Fights brings us local hometown boy Vera who is 1 out of his last 5. Mora has won 3 of his last 5. Mora is the big name here. Vera has the advantage of hometown, but I think this will be Mora’s.
