Alternatives to WWE (Impact! Edition)

I did a full blog on alternatives to WWE, but while I think it was really great, I seemed to have done a Crash TV version of a rundown. So I think there is a reason to do a more in-depth look at the other alternatives in wrestling.

Names You’ll Know:

Brian Kendrick, Bubba Ray Dudley, Christy Hemme, D-Von Dudley, Eric Bischoff, Gail Kim, Hulk Hogan, Miss Jackie, Jeff Hardy, Jeff Jarrett, Kurt Angle, Kid Kash, Matt Morgan, Mickie James, Elijah Burke, Mike Tenay, Mr. Kennedy, Ric Flair, Rob Van Dam, Shannon Moore, Scott Steiner, Sting, Victoria, Tazz

Names You’ll Want to Know:

AJ Styles, Hernandez, Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Eric Young, Samoa Joe, their Divas, who are called Knockouts

What You’ll Like:

The Impact! originals. AJ Styles is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. You also have the guys of the X-Division. Think of it as the WCW Cruiserweight Division without weight limits. The Knockouts Division is one of their bigger strengths. Reminiscent of how we had a legendary feud between Trish and Victoria during the Katie Vick era, during a time period when Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan are vomiting all over their product, the Knockouts are delivering consistently good wrestling.

What You Probably Won’t Like:

Remember the last time Hulk Hogan was relevant? Neither do I. Instead of torturing Troy Aikman in commercials or giving his opinion on the president on Fox News, it’s 2011. He doesn’t need to be involved in an on-camera role. The writing and storylines is non-sensical and on the border of insultingly bad. Plus, for a company that claims “Wrestling Matters,” they once had a total of 6 minutes on their 2-hour show. And let’s not forget the 2-minute main event between Jeff Hardy and Sting.

Ease of access:

They are on Spike TV every Thursday night at 9 PM EST.

I’m going to honest. I don’t watch this particular company. Hulk Hogan is my own personal TV repellent. It was also from head writer Vince Russo for a long time. It also comes on during The Mentalist and Private Practice (<-my wife’s show, not mine), so that makes me unable to DVR it because of DirecTV. So if you want an easy-to-find alternative, try it out.

I think you should rename this article to… why Impact is the alternative to the WWE
🙂 I was confused with the title.
